This devotional was originally shared as part of our Daily Devotionals on YouTube. Below is a written reflection and prayer inspired by today’s video.

Feeling distracted, restless, or like something is missing? In today’s daily devotional, we reflect on finding rest, joy, and fulfillment in God’s presence. When we draw close to Him, our souls are refreshed, and our joy becomes independent of circumstances.

Today’s devotional reading comes from Jesus Calling for Moms and includes Scripture from Psalms that remind us to be still, wait on the Lord, and find joy in His presence. This is a short, meaningful devotional you can reflect on during your morning quiet time or throughout the day.

Devotional Reflection & Prayer (Transcript)

Today I’m reading out of Jesus Calling For Moms — What I love about it is that it gives you a little commentary breakdown as well as some scriptures, and they tie into each other.

Daily Devotional:

I continually call you to. Closeness with me. I know the depth and breadth of your need for me. I can read the emptiness of your thoughts when they wander away from me. I offer rest for your soul as well as refreshment for your mind and body. As you increasingly find fulfillment in me, other pleasures become less important. Knowing me intimately is like having a private wellspring of joy within you. This spring flows freely from my throne of grace. So your joy is independent of circumstances waiting in my presence, keeps you connected to me, aware of all that I offer you. If you feel any deficiency, you need to refocus your attention on me. This is how you trust in me in the moments of your life.

Scriptures:

Psalms 131:2, but I have still and quieted my soul like a weaned child with its mother, like a weaned child is my soul within me.

Psalms 21:6. Surely you have granted him eternal blessings and made him glad with the joy of your presence.

Psalms 37:7. Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him. Do not fret when men succeed in their ways when they carry out their wicked scheme.

Bible Study (Deep Dive)…

And what I like to do is I’ll read these scriptures and then I’ll Think about them, I’ll marinate on them. I might journal about them, and I just think about like what that scripture meant to me.

Final Thoughts…

It’s talking about, I continually call you closeness with me. And when you’re feeling that things are not going your way or you know, you’re not joyful or something is missing. It’s that connection that you need with the Holy Spirit and Jesus and God and the Holy Trinity.

So if you feel like something’s missing in your life, then maybe it’s because you’re focused on everything and everyone else instead of focusing on the person who’s calling you.

EXAMPLE:

I know I get distracted listening to everybody else, and everything else that’s going on sometimes, and I actually feel like I’m way more successful and I get way more done when I’m by myself because I’m not distracted by everything else going on. I can see. Exactly where I need to go, the direction that I’m headed in.
