Devotional Reflection & Prayer (Transcript)
Every day when I wake up, I try to read a little devotional book for faith-based encouragement and spiritual growth. One of my favorites is called Jesus Calling by Sarah Young — there are different versions of this… here’s how I began my walk with God the first day of the year!
Daily Devotional:
Come to me with a teachable spirit, eager to change and walk with me in a life of continual newness. Do not cling to old ways. As you step into a new year, instead, seek my face with an open mind, knowing that your journey with me involves being transformed by the renewing of your mind. As you focus on your thoughts on me, be aware that I am fully attentive to you. I see you with a steady eye because my attention span is infinite. I know and understand you completely. My thoughts embrace you in everlasting love. I also know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and to not harm you. Plans to give you hope and a future. Give yourself fully to this adventure of increasing attentiveness to my presence.
Bible Study – Deep Dive…
This is only the beginning and I just wanted to start off the year showing you how easy it is just to read this book and go on about your day — in less a few minutes!
I love the fact that this is just a little bitty book that also gives you short Bible verses at the end, so you can go see where they got these daily devotionals from.
So when you’re getting your coffee in the morning, you can have a Sip of coffee and a little sip of “Jesus juice” at the same time — then go on about your day. Sometimes I’ll read this in the morning, afternoon, or evening.
I keep multiple copies of different daily devotionals at the various locations I tend to be (i.e. the RV, the condo, in the bathroom, bedroom, car, etc…) That way, no matter where I’m at, I can always have a little something to read and inspire me — other times I’ll pull up my daily devotionals on my phone.
Some days, I spend more time diving into the scriptures referenced. So, I’ll read my daily devotional, then I might sit, pray, and meditate on God’s word for the day. You can do this morning, evening, night, whenever you’re feeling like you need a little bit of Jesus in your life.
This is EXACTLY how I go through my day and pray — just one of those little daily devotionals that I use, and you can too!
Closing Prayer
Lord, thank You for Your Word and the encouragement You give us each day. Help us to carry this truth into our lives and trust You more fully in every season. Amen.
